When SharedKey is the better fit
- You want one place for the house rules, the wifi password, the plumber's number and directions for guests.
- Guests and renters need a read-only page of their own.
- You track shared expenses and rental income and want the calendar next to them.
- First come, first served works fine for your family, and $49 a year is not a problem.
When AllDibs is the better fit
- The real fight is about who gets which weekend, and you want the calendar to settle it instead of a person.
- You want weekends and holidays rationed fairly, with credits that come back as the season moves on.
- You would rather not pay a subscription for a family cabin.
- The family also shares a boat, a camper or the good pressure washer, and you want one app for all of it.
How the credits work
Whoever sets up the cabin decides how many midweek nights and how many weekend nights each family gets at a time. Booking a night spends one credit of the matching type, the calendar refuses any booking that overlaps someone else's, and once a night has passed its credit is yours again. Everyone can plan ahead, nobody can hoard, and the group chat goes back to photos.

Other tools worth knowing about
OurSharedPlace is the closest thing to AllDibs on fairness: it has member quotas and a round-robin booking queue, alongside finances, checklists and guest tools. It costs $99 per property per year, or $14.99 a month, with a 14-day trial, and it is aimed at larger families with more to manage. Is AllDibs a direct replacement for SharedKey?+
Only for the calendar. SharedKey bundles a house manual, contacts, a notice board, expense tracking and guest pages around its calendar. AllDibs does the calendar and the fairness, plus a chat and a file drawer per item. If the manual is what you use most, keep SharedKey.
Can we use both?+
Nothing stops you. Some families keep the house information in one place and run the bookings in AllDibs because the credit budgets stop the same person taking every long weekend.
How long does it take to move a cabin onto AllDibs?+
